11 Testosterone Myths

1: THE CHANGES COME VERY FAST AND ARE COMPLETE IN 2 YEARS OR LESS.

The changes can take from 2 to 10 years. Generally, the body and facial hair continues to fill in for up to 10 years or more. The first changes in 6 months to a year are usually voice changes, clitoral growth, cessation of the menses, hairline changes, possible hair loss, fat redistribution, increased muscle mass, skin changes, some facial hair, marked increase of body and pubic hair - ask your doctor

2: T WILL CAUSE ME TO GROW IN HEIGHT AS WELL AS MAKE MY HANDS GROW!

Based on medical fact: *T cannot cause long bone growth after puberty. Long bones are arms and legs. Estrogen closes off the epiphyses or ball ends of the long bones sealing them from any further growth. If it didn't, we would continue to grow and grow and grow - ask your doctor

3: MY BREASTS WILL GO AWAY AFTER I START *T JUST LIKE A FEMALE BODYBUILDER'S BREASTS.

If anything it may cause them to appear larger due to underlying muscle growth.

4: CHANGES WILL HAPPEN FASTER IF I INJECT MORE *T  OR INJECT MORE OFTEN

Please follow doctors orders

5: MALE PATTERN BALDNESS IS NOT ON MY MOTHERS SIDE OF THE FAMILY, SO I WON'T LOSE MY HAIR

This is not a reliable indicator nor is lack of baldness on the Fathers side - ask your doctor

6: *T MAKES YOU GAY

No clear data supports this

7: IF I STOP *T, THE ONLY CHANGE THAT IS IRREVERSIBLE IS MY VOICE.

Some changes cannot be reversed - ask your doctor

8: I DON'T HAVE A WEIGHT PROBLEM NOW SO *T WON'T CAUSE ME TO GAIN FAT, ONLY MUSCLE.

You may put on fat in the belly area or water weight at first, a bloating condition that should reverse in time - ask you doctor

9: I CANNOT GET PREGNANT WHILE ON *T.

It's possible - ask your doctor

10: *T IS WHAT CAUSES ANGER PROBLEMS OR 'ROID RAGE' AND I WILL BE ALOOF ABOUT LOVE.

It's possible - ask your doctor

11: BEING ON *T WILL KEEP ME FROM CONTRACTING STD'S (SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE)

T cannot prevent STD's - ask your doctor
