Narrative about myself:
In
Summer 2003, I started dressing in men's clothes and got my
hair cut short. I wasn't sure about my gender identity yet
but I knew that just felt right. I identified as a lesbian
then. In May 2004, I started questioning my gender the most
and started being comfortable with saying that I'm
genderqueer. In June 2004, I went to the first Trans March
in San Francisco. Being around other trans people was great.
I felt like I fitted in with all of them. Around Fall 2004,
I started coming out to others as being transgendered. Since
then I've gotten more and more comfortable with my gender
identity being genderqueer on the FTM spectrum. Therefore I
like to say I'm female-to-me. I finally get to be me. My
friends, parents and sister are supportive, even though many
weren't at first. Being comfortable with my gender also
helped me figure out what my sexual orientation is and I now
identify as pansexual.
Now that
I am 18 and planning on going to college in the Fall, I'm
starting to medically transition. I'm going to have a
consultation with Dr. Brownstein in SF and am probably going
to choose him and make my surgery date in January. I want to
do it during Winter Break from school. May 2nd is my
appointment with a doctor who has experience with
prescribing T to transgenders. I hope it goes well and that
I can start T as soon as possible. I'm ready to. I plan on
sending more pictures after I get visible changes on T.
